Ali Nazari is a co-founder of Data Capital Management, the event-driven investment firm based on machine learning and artificial intelligence. He acts as the portfolio manager and Chief Investment Officer for the firm.
Mr. Nazari began his investment career in the quantitative research group of JP Morgan. Later, he joined JPMIS - a newly-created big data group of JP Morgan where he was focusing on statistical analysis, modeling techniques, and machine learning methods to drive innovative solutions for data-driven investment insights
Mr. Nazari holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, where he worked on Multi-user information theory problems. He is the recipient of the IEEE Information Theory best student paper award in 2009. In addition to his PhD, Mr. Nazari completed three masters: MSc. in Mathematics, MSc. in Financial Engineering, and MSc. in Electrical Engineering during his tenure at MichiganAli is currently serving as an adjunct professor at New York University and the University of Michigan, where he teaches Machine Learning and Data Science courses with applications in trading and portfolio management.
